I’m quite new to this blogging lark. I like to think I’m quite internet savvy about these things but if I’m honest I’m a bit of dullard.
Imagine my surprise when last week an internet friend (I’ve not met her in real life yet but I hope to soon, and that doesn’t seem to matter anyway) and much more experienced blogger passed on a blogging award to little old me.
Liebster means dearest, or favourite, in German and when you receive one of these awards you are asked to link back to the blogger who passed the award on to you, and then to pass the badge on to a further five deserving bloggers. The award is to highlight the fortunes of less well known blogs with 200 or less followers.
Well the first bit is easy. Mymumdom is a Mum of 4 primary school age children, living in London, and blogs about parenting, and things relating to parenting. Her blog is honest, and often hilarious, although I’m not always sure that she intends it to be. She also takes lovely photographs of her children and her holidays! She has also taught me by dint of this award how to insert links !
Now the harder part – as a novice, I don’t follow very many other bloggers, the ones I do are mostly people I know or have met like Mymumdom through other forums – Oh who am I kidding – it’s facebook I’m talking about!
The first lady that springs to mind though is an old school friend of mine who, surprise surprise, I “met” up with again through facebook after 20 odd years of absence. I am giving Count your chickens this award because it is her blog that got me started. Shortly after we got back in touch I read one of her posts and fell in love with her writing. She is a parent blogger too and writes so beautifully about herself and her children and the difficulties they face. She is also a newly qualified infant school teacher. I hope that one day she does write the book she wants to, because I have no doubt it will be brilliant. She has even more recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder yet undaunted she continues to write. She has brought a tear to my eye on more than one occasion and she needs to write a whole lot more.
Next up is my sister, well there’s nothing I’ve seen in the rules about nepotism. Actually Lookyleo is a good read, who knew that my little sister was so wise? She’s a lone parent of a feisty 7 year old girl, and much of her blog is about their life together. I love them, I’m sure you will too.
Another old school friend next I think. Actually her and her shiny new husband. A creative partnership in more ways than one. Somewhere no where is a brand new venture for them both, I am intreagued… (I don’t know how many followers they have currently but it doesn’t matter, I want you to know about them too)
I have some more, but my computer is grinding to a halt at this late hour, and I’m losing the will to live, I’m pretty sure that’s not the point of the award! I’ll finish this at the weekend, until then, I hope you enjoy reading the links I’ve already made.
